VITA volunteers are IRS-trained community members from all different walks of life. They help prepare CA state and federal taxes for working families and individuals in Monterey County for FREE! 

 

United Way's VITA Volunteer Instructors and our IRS-partner offer high-quality training for the following volunteer positions:

  • Tax Preparer
  • Intake Specialist
  • Site Coordinator

Volunteer Opportunities to prepare taxes have closed for this season. 

However, you can still support our community this tax season by volunteering as an Intake Specialist!

VITA VOLUNTEER INTAKE SPECIALIST

VITA Volunteer Intake Specialist training is completed in one 90 minute class. 

You will:

  • Learn how VITA helps taxpayers save money on their tax returns
  • Role play customer service scenarios
  • Work with intake forms

TRAINING DATES

Participants only need to attend one 90 minute session 

In Person 

  • Thursday, January 29 at 5-6:30pm PM 
  • Saturday, February 7 at 12-1:30pm PM

ALL SESSIONS IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH

At the end of the class, participants will complete a short certification test, submit a volunteer agreement (with a photo ID required), and sign up to help at a free tax preparation site in Monterey County.
