CALWORKS COMMUNITY SERVICE

United Way Monterey County partners with the Monterey County Department of Social Services (MCDSS) to deliver the CalWORKs program.

CalWORKs (California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids) provides temporary cash assistance, job training, and family supports to parents and caregivers with children. Through our partnership, we mobilize resources, connect families with opportunities, and walk alongside them as they build brighter futures.

HOW CALWORKS SUPPORTS FAMILIES WITH UNITED WAY MONTEREY COUNTY

Through CalWORKs, families gain more than temporary assistance; they’re connected to United Way Monterey County’s network of services and partners that strengthen stability for the long term. Parents receive job readiness coaching and career development support, alongside financial empowerment resources like free tax preparation through our VITA program. And through 211 Monterey County, families can access thousands of local resources to meet immediate needs. Together, these connections create a pathway toward self-sufficiency and brighter futures for Monterey County families.
